PLAY IN A REAL BAND

ROCK LAB — TEENS & ADULTS

Rock Lab gives musicians the chance to rehearse with a band, learn songs together, and take the stage for real live performances.

MORE THAN JUST PLAYING SONGS

Playing in a band challenges you in ways practicing alone can’t. You learn to listen, communicate, adapt, and find your place in the music—all while working toward something together.

01 – PLAY TOGETHER

LEARN TO LISTEN. LEARN TO COLABORATE

Playing your part is only the beginning. Rock Lab teaches musicians to listen to one another, lock in with the band, communicate, and understand how their part fits into the whole.

✓ Rehearse and arrange songs together
✓ Develop timing and listening skills
✓ Learn how different instruments work together

02 – BUILD CONFIDENCE

Become a More Confident Musician

There’s a big difference between knowing a song and being able to play it with other musicians. Rock Lab gives players the experience to adapt, recover from mistakes, contribute ideas, and become comfortable making music with other people.

✓ Build confidence through real experience
✓ Learn to communicate musically
✓ Take ownership of your part

03 – PERFORM LIVE

Take Your Music to the Stage

The goal isn’t to keep rehearsing forever. Rock Lab bands work toward real performances where musicians can put everything they’ve learned into action.

✓ Prepare a set with your band
✓ Develop stage and performance skills
✓ Experience playing for a live audience

WHAT HAPPENS IN ROCK LAB?

Rock Lab bands work together on songs chosen for the group, creating arrangements that give every musician an important role.

Depending on the song and the players, that might mean rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass, keys, percussion, vocals—or something completely different.

Along the way, musicians learn how to rehearse effectively, work through problems as a band, develop their sound, and prepare their music for performance.

ROCK LAB + SKILLS TRAINING

Build Your Skills. Then Put Them to Work.

Rock Lab is where musicians apply their skills. Regular guitar classes are where they continue building them.

Students get the most from Rock Lab when they continue developing their technique and musicianship through Foundations, Core Skills, or Modern Lead while putting those skills to work with a band.

THERE'S NOTHING QUITE LIKE PLAYING IN A BAND

“My daughter’s experience has been phenomenal at Reading School of Guitar. She describes it as “cool” which is a huge compliment coming from a 13, almost 14 year old.”
–Stephanie, parent
